Places and events to play in Riyadh 15

Riyadh has no park tables and no chess hall with fixed opening hours on record, so a game with new opponents usually means an event or a café evening. This page gathers them by kind, starting with the clubs: Kings Chess Club numbers its FIDE-rated rapid days past the tenth edition, KSHMAK plays its championships every few months, Only Move takes its cups to university campuses, and Pawn Takes ran blitz and rapid days in 2025.

In the cafés, the Meetup group Chess & Chat gathers at Cima Cafe on Saturday evenings, and Coffee Planet hosted events of a Chess Friends Club. The federation’s two series, the Riyadh Open and the women’s rapid, have their own tiles, and so do the halls that host other people’s tournaments: King Salman Social Center, Arab East Colleges in Al Qirawan and Danat Al Uloom Schools in Al Malqa. Two academies are here for the events they organise: AR Chess Academy, based in Al Olaya, runs a numbered under-12 series, and Golden Horse Academy in Al Narjis held a friendly classical tournament in September 2026 and is the federation’s partner for its Riyadh series. None of these pages says whether a visitor can walk in for a casual game, and the listings do not guess.
